Albatros D.Va for Flight Sim Flight Shop FS98 ONLY

The Albatros D.Va is a WWI German biplane fighter. An earlier model was
flown by Manfred von Richtofen during most of his aerial victories.

The original .afx and .pcx files are available on request. Email reimer@mbnet.mb.ca
The flight model is based on historical documentation and a large amount of
guess work. Comments and suggestions for improvements and modifications are
welcome.

The Mercedes 6 cylinder water-cooled engine only turns 1500 rpm at full
throttle, top speed. Tip stall characteristics are nasty, so beware of using
full aileron deflection at low speeds. Top level speed is 90-95 kts. The
Albatros is not nearly as nible as the later Sopwith Camel and Fokker
Triplane, but it was a stable gun platform and served as the primary
German fighter aircraft for much of the First World War. The D.Va was the
last of the Albatros designs.

Takeoff is a hands-off affairs. Just keep it straight with rudder and
it will fly itself off. Three point landings are recommended. Wheel
landings are really tough to do in FS, but possible.

The original afx and fde were modified by Jim Goldman and Robert Kirkland
of Flight Sim Developers. Textures by Robert Kirkland. the modified afx and
the textures are not available. The modified panel is by Jim Goldman from the
original Sopwith panel.
